MOTIVE & PROCESS
"I have total control of the material effortlessly, I am cutting colorful glasses with scissors. I can feel the solid glass. So, one after another, these abstract sculptures are coming out."
Intentional artwork from the unconscious mind
The unconscious needs to break out of the isolation in which it is trapped; art has become one way out since the beginning. When I observe it in an artwork, it is curious because it tells me that the unconscious and conscious negativity I feel is not unique to me; We share. Art is primarily intended to communicate a personal journey once the art making is cleared off of contemporary categories and genres.
To be able to experience an authentic feeling to be evoked, instead of trying to get rid of a feeling, I work with the intention of being with the feeling while experiencing it through the art. This is the Process of art. It invites the unknown to come forward where the Product only makes sense because of the Process.
The set of works is the result of challenging the fear of loss. The loss of “the creation”. I cut pieces out of my paintings, one can also consider it as ruining the creation. New pieces come alive as new entities. In the third stage, they come out as abstract collage paintings. Sometimes it comes naturally, the work does not want to stop and finds more life as a mask or a sculpture with the intention of emphasizing fragility and rebirth. Eventually, this ritual becomes a performance of the artwork creation. It is the never-ending circle of life.
The forms are the result of the unconscious mind. The unconscious mind keeps on communicating in sophisticated ways so there is a hidden intention too as it exists in art therapy. So we allow the artwork contain our feelings for us.
